1960 Benelli 175 Sport Engine Size: 175cc First Produced: 1958

1972 Benelli Sport Special Engine: 245cc First Produced: 1968
With a single cylinder four stroke engine coupled to a 5 speed gearbox this model was cabable of speeds up to 90mph. |
|
1975 Benelli 650 Tornado S Engine: 643cc First Produced: 1973
The engine has parallel twin cylinders, four stroke, OHV, 2 valves per cylinder with a 5 speed gearbox. Although it was a very reliable machine, owners did complain that it was overweight & sluggish at low revs. On top of that, it was not a very inspiring bike to ride at speed as it did not feel very stable and tended wander at speeds over 80mph. |
|
1975 Benelli 250 Quattro Engine: 231.4cc First Produced: 1975
The engine on this model was a departure from previous convention & had an air cooled, four stroke, transverse mounted four cylinder, OHV engine coupled to a 5 speed gearbox. With a top speed of only 90mph, it wasn't the fasted bike around, but it made up for this by being beautifully designed & suprisingly lightweight. Although it was somewhat expensive for its time! |

1978 Benelli 750Sei & 1983 Benelli 900Sei Engine: 750 / 906cc 750Sei
900Sei
The 750 model was the first on the market with a transverse mounted six cylinder engine & distinctive a six pipe exhaust system. It was an excellent machine but did not have the outright performance of the similar size Japanese machines of the time, although it was an extremely comfortable bike & ideal for long road journeys. The 900Sei was introduced in 1978, it still had a transverse six cylinder engine, but now uprated to 900cc it had a power output of 80hp at 8600rpm. This model was designed to be sleeker with a small windshield & a different fuel tank, seat & three into one exhaust pipes. Outright performance was not in the league of similar Japanese models, but what it lacked in that respect it made up for in roadholding & its phenominal braking capacity. |
