The roots of the Laverda Motorcycle company go back to 1873, when Pietro Laverda started an agricultural engines business in Italy. In October 1949, Pietro's grandson Francesco founded Moto Laverda S.A.S. 1952 Laverda 75cc Racing Engine Size: 75cc First Produced: 1962
Air cooled, four stroke engine producing 8hp @ 12,000rpm. This bike was entered in various races in Italy & met with great success. The name of Laverda went on to represent motorcycles of quality, smoothness & reliability. |

1960 Laverda Sport 100 Engines: 98cc First Produced: 1960
The engine is a, slightly inclined, single-cylinder 98cc pushrod overhead valve, ignition: Marelli magneto, Transmission: gear primary drive to three-speed gearbox; final drive by chain. |

1975 Laverda 3C Jota Engine Size: 980cc First Produced: 1975
1982 Laverda Jota 1000
Air cooled, 4 stroke DOHC triple cilinder engine. This was the first of the Jota range which turned out to be the best selling Laverda model. Later Jota models received some mild tuning & were capable of 139mph. |

1975 Laverda Chott 250 Engine: 247cc First Produced: 1974
The early models of this model used Laverda designed 2 stroke engines with a 5 speed gearbox, but later engines from Zundapp & Husqvarna were used. |

1977 Laverda Alpino 500T Engine: 497cc First Produced: 1977
Air cooled, 4 stroke parallel twin engine coupled to a 6 speed transmission which produced 44hp @ 7500rpm. The 500T was the standard model but it was also produced as a sportier version, the 500S. A 350cc version of the Alpino was also available. |

1982 Laverda Montjuic 500 Engine: 497cc First Produced: 1979
Basically the first Montjuics were Alpinos tuned to around 50 horsepower with the S1 cams, high-compression pistons, Sito sports exhaust, Jota adjustable handlebars and cast aluminum rearsets. They were shipped to the U.K. in bare form where Slater Bros. fitted bodywork and a handlebar fairing. |
